Moving Abroad Business Advisory Package

Providing US Business Owners with a Literal Roadmap to Move Abroad with Confidence

I took an extremely American approach to my life as an entrepreneur in Spain.

It’s crazy, but it’s true: I’m a cross-border CPA with almost a decade in the field, I do taxes for American business owners abroad for a living, and…I still messed up big time because I thought I could be “the exception.”

The result? My poorly planned move disqualified me for the Beckham regime when my wife and I moved to Spain 🫠

I thought I had a handle on the requirements and genuinely thought I could:

  • DIY it
  • Jump first and deal with the consequences later
  • Figure things out as I went
  • Pay my way out of it, if need be, by connecting with the very professionals I should have worked with from the beginning**

** That last one worked, but I REALLY wouldn’t recommend it

.

Move Abroad the Right Way — Not the Hard Way

At Rook International CPAs & Advisors, we specialize in helping US entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small business owners plan their cross-border moves with strategy, not guesswork.

Tough-but-important pills to swallow
  • What works in the US doesn’t always translate overseas.
  • What’s tax-efficient at home can become an expensive tax disaster abroad.
  • And that “I’ll just figure it out later” approach? It almost always costs more — financially and emotionally.
I personally designed the Moving Abroad Business Advisory Package to give you a 360° plan for a life and business that work seamlessly across borders.

Through our work together, you’ll know exactly how your move affects your:

  • US entity
  • Local setup
  • Income streams, and
  • Global tax position — so you can relocate with total confidence that your i’s are dotted and t’s crossed in both countries

Basically, I Created the Service I Wish Existed When I Moved Abroad

Back in 2021 (is it just me, or does this feel like a really long time ago?), no one was offering a boutique handholding service to help small US business owners move compliantly and strategically out of the US

Sure, if you were a multinational company, you could go to one of the Big 4 and get a customized service for a cool $30,000 or so (I should know, I used to work at one of these).

But the idea that “smaller” (read: not multinational firms) could benefit from strategic tax planning and global positioning wasn’t really a thing yet.

So, I’m making it one.

People are no longer moving abroad for just a few months. They’re doing it for the long term.

And I believe in Americans’ right to choose where they live, operate their businesses, and make their memories. That is why this service exists. Because when it comes to international tax planning, it’s so easy to get tripped up by timing and conflicting information.

And I know you didn’t move abroad to double the taxes.

In fact, if I had to guess, you’re probably moving abroad for a slightly better work-life balance than the one you have in the US

Let’s Clear Up a Few Myths

If I get the visa, my taxes will work themselves out.

Nope. Your visa decides where you live — not how you’re taxed.

I can just keep my US LLC and figure out local tax later.

Risky. Many countries treat US entities differently, and you could face double taxation or lose access to local benefits.

I’ll deal with this once I arrive.

By then, you’ve already made the decisions that matter most. The order of your move — residency, entity, payroll, and timing — determines everything. We refer to these pillar aspects as the 3Rs: residency, revenue, and risk. All of them are covered in the Move Abroad Business Advisory Package.

When you work with Rook, you don’t just get answers. You get proactive questions and thoughtful strategy — leading to answers to questions you didn’t even know you needed to ask.

Plan Your Move Like a Global Business Owner Building for the Long Haul

Whether you’re relocating for lifestyle, family, or opportunity, you deserve a business that can move with you – legally, efficiently, and profitably.

As a US CPA specializing in cross-border tax planning for business owners, I’ve got the US side covered. And between me and some of the best minds in local tax, you’ll not only be working with a team that puts you and your business first, but has the chops to execute the plan.

We don’t hand you one-size-fits-all advice, because we know that doesn’t exist.

We build a tailored roadmap that fits your income,
structure, and goals.

The result

A tax setup that works across borders

Relationships with both US and foreign tax specialists (not to mention a friendly face to meet up with if you’re ever in Madrid! 👋)
